The Knitting Queen–Ms.Ding 針織女王
Dir. Xiaotong Chen | Macau | 2026 | 17:31
Tucked away in an abandoned shopping mall in Macao lives an ordinary yet extraordinary knitting artisan. Her life has been inextricably woven with the craft of knitting; stitch by stitch, she has created a vibrant world all her own. Along the way, she has also witnessed how traditional craftsmanship persists and endures amid the tides of time.
Her wish is simple: she hopes the garments she makes will be remembered, not her name—and that these precious skills will never be lost to the passage of time.
“I want to keep knitting sweaters for as long as I have the strength. Even if no one buys them, I’ll keep going. This craft is my spiritual anchor.”
This documentary invites you into her world, to feel her deep love and dedication for knitting, and to witness how traditional craftsmanship holds its ground and passes on its legacy in modern society. Let’s listen together to this story woven from threads and needles, and embrace the warmth and resilience of a true artisan.
